Ash Fork
In October 1882, when the Atlantic & Pacific Railroad (later to become the Santa Fe) came this way, they established a siding at a stage stop that later became Ash Fork. Gun fighting was prohibited in town, as was the firing of rifles and pistols. The town prospered during the war years, but the completion of I-40 laid the death keel for Ash Fork.
